Online counselling for self-esteem & self-worth
If there's a harsh voice in your head that never seems satisfied, telling you you're not good enough, not doing enough, not enough full stop, you don't have to keep living by its rules. I offer warm, practical online therapy to help you quiet that inner critic and build a steadier sense of your own worth, wherever you are in the world.
Low self-esteem is sneaky. It rarely feels like a "problem" you can point to, it just feels like the truth about who you are. You over-apologise, you struggle to accept a compliment, you replay conversations convinced you got it wrong, and you hold yourself to standards you'd never impose on anyone else. But that voice wasn't born with you. It was learned, and what's learned can be gently unlearned.
How I help with self-esteem
As an integrative therapist I'm trained in a broad range of modalities and choose what fits you. For this work I most often draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), self-compassion work and mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT). We won't try to slap positive affirmations over deep beliefs. Instead we get curious about where the inner critic came from, and slowly build something more honest and kind in its place.
Meet your inner critic
Understand the voice that runs you down, where it learned to speak, and why it thinks it's protecting you.
Separate worth from performance
Stop measuring your value by productivity, approval or being needed, and find a steadier foundation underneath.
Practise self-compassion
Learn to talk to yourself the way you'd talk to someone you love, a skill, not a personality trait.
Act on your own values
Make choices from what matters to you, rather than from fear of judgement or the need to please everyone.
What low self-esteem can look like
You might recognise some of these: constant comparison, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, perfectionism, feeling like a fraud when things go well, taking criticism to heart while brushing off praise, or a quiet belief that you have to earn love and rest. If any of that sounds familiar, counselling can help, you're not too much, and you were never not enough.
You've been listening to that critical voice for years. It's allowed to be wrong, and you're allowed to stop believing it.
Sessions that fit your life
All sessions are online or by phone, across time zones, starting with a free 15-minute consultation. This is a space with no judgement and no report card. We go at your pace, in whichever way feels most comfortable for you.
Self-esteem counselling FAQs
Yes. Self-esteem is learned, which means it can be relearned. Counselling helps you trace where the harsh beliefs about yourself came from and gradually build a steadier, kinder sense of your own worth.
Often from early experiences, critical or conditional relationships, comparison, bullying, or being made to feel you had to earn love. Understanding those roots, without blame, is a big part of loosening their hold on you today.
I'm an integrative therapist, so rather than using one fixed method I draw on a broad range of evidence-based modalities and tailor them to you, including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT), person-centred, solution-focused, psychodynamic and motivational interviewing.
