Stress & burnout counselling

Online counselling for stress & burnout

If you're running on empty, snapping at people you love, and can't remember the last time you felt genuinely rested, you may be closer to burnout than you think. I offer warm, practical online therapy to help you refill the tank and build a life that doesn't keep draining it, wherever you are in the world.

Burnout doesn't happen because you're weak, it happens because you kept going for too long without enough recovery. It's the natural result of chronic stress: demanding work, caregiving, study, or simply carrying more than any one person should. By the time you notice it, you're often exhausted, irritable, and quietly wondering whether you even care anymore. That's not a moral failing. It's a signal, and it's one we can respond to.

How I help with stress & burnout

As an integrative therapist I'm trained in a broad range of modalities and choose what fits you. For this work I most often draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT). Rather than just telling you to "self-care," we get specific about what's depleting you, what recovery actually looks like for your life, and how to protect it.

Calm an overloaded system

Learn grounding and mindfulness tools that bring your stressed nervous system out of constant high alert.

Set boundaries that stick

Work out where your energy is leaking and how to say no, kindly and clearly, without the guilt spiral.

Untangle overfunctioning

Notice the perfectionism and over-responsibility that quietly fuel burnout, and gently loosen their grip.

Rebuild real recovery

Design rest and routines that genuinely restore you, not just numbing or collapsing at the end of the day.

What burnout can look like

You might recognise some of these: exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, dreading Mondays (or every day), becoming cynical or detached about work you once cared about, frequent headaches or illness, forgetfulness, short temper, or feeling like you're just going through the motions. If any of that sounds familiar, counselling can help, you don't have to wait until you completely crash.

Rest isn't a reward you earn after you collapse. It's the thing that stops you collapsing in the first place.

Sessions that fit your life

All sessions are online or by phone, across time zones, starting with a free 15-minute consultation, no need to add another stressful commute to your week. We go at your pace, in whichever way feels most comfortable for you.

Stress & burnout FAQs

Stress usually eases once the pressure lifts. Burnout is what happens when stress goes on too long without recovery, you feel drained, detached and cynical, and rest alone no longer refills the tank. Both respond well to counselling.

Yes. While we can't always change your circumstances overnight, we can change how you relate to them, building boundaries, recovery habits and coping tools that protect your energy while you decide what comes next.

I'm an integrative therapist, so rather than using one fixed method I draw on a broad range of evidence-based modalities and tailor them to you, including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT), person-centred, solution-focused, psychodynamic and motivational interviewing.
