Online counselling for life transitions & change
A new country, a new job, the end of a chapter, a version of life you didn't quite plan for, big change can leave you feeling unmoored, even when it's something you chose. I offer warm, practical online therapy to help you find your footing and grow into what's next, wherever you are in the world.
Life transitions are the in-between spaces, after the old normal ends but before the new one feels solid. Moving abroad, changing careers, becoming a parent, an empty nest, a relationship ending or beginning, retirement, or simply reaching a stage of life that feels different than you expected. Even good changes ask a lot of us, because they quietly reshape who we are and where we belong. It's completely normal to feel wobbly in that space.
How I help with life transitions
As an integrative therapist I'm trained in a broad range of modalities and choose what fits you. For this work I most often draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT), alongside room to process the identity and belonging questions that change stirs up. Having supported many people through relocation and cross-cultural moves, I understand how disorienting it can be to rebuild your sense of home.
Steady the ground
Practical tools to manage the anxiety and overwhelm that uncertainty brings, so you can think clearly again.
Grieve what's changing
Make space for the losses hidden inside change, even welcome ones, instead of pushing past them.
Reconnect with who you are
Explore identity, belonging and values when the roles and places that used to define you have shifted.
Move forward with clarity
Get unstuck around big decisions and take confident steps toward the life you're building.
What a hard transition can look like
You might recognise some of these: feeling homesick or rootless, trouble sleeping, low mood or anxiety that arrived with the change, second-guessing a decision, feeling caught between two cultures or two versions of yourself, or a sense that everyone else has it together while you're quietly struggling. If any of that sounds familiar, counselling can help, you don't have to have it all figured out to reach out.
The in-between is uncomfortable because you're not who you were, and not yet who you're becoming. That's not you failing, that's growth in progress.
Sessions that travel with you
All sessions are online or by phone, across time zones, which means our work can continue no matter where in the world you move. We start with a free 15-minute consultation and go at your pace, in whichever way feels most comfortable for you.
Life transitions FAQs
Completely. Even wanted changes, a new job, a new country, a new baby, involve loss of the familiar, and grief and excitement often sit side by side. Struggling doesn't mean you made the wrong choice.
Yes. Therapy isn't about telling you what to do, it's a space to think clearly, hear your own values under the noise, and move forward with more confidence, whichever direction you choose.
I'm an integrative therapist, so rather than using one fixed method I draw on a broad range of evidence-based modalities and tailor them to you, including CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, mindfulness-based techniques (MBCT), person-centred, solution-focused, psychodynamic and motivational interviewing.
