Most frequent questions and answers

Psychotherapy is like airing out a locked, dusty room we have been burying objects in for years. So far, we’ve been able to avoid it. But it’s now overflowing. Opening these doors means awakening memories, remembering the meaningful objects that have been hidden or misplaced and mourning their loss. Slowly dusting off each one, mending the rupture and holding it close once again. Learning what to keep and how to let go. Excavating that room is effortful and intentional – this takes time.

The length of your treatment depends on many factors like the severity of your symptoms, your desire to be in treatment, your commitment to doing “the work” in between sessions, the distance between where you are and where you would like to be, etc.

What people say?

Before I started working with Shagoon, I had no idea that being connected to myself could change my life. Through compassion, inquiry and care my therapist continues to encourage me through a dynamic journey of healing and hope. The decision to seek therapy was the bravest and best choice I have ever made.
I have been seeing my therapist regularly and she has been a great help to me emotionally and psychologically. I feel better about myself and about my interactions with others. She has given me tools to improve my communication skills and has reinforced my sense of self-worth. My therapist has an amazing demeanor and makes me feel so comfortable opening up and sharing the painful details of my life.
I came to Safe Space with Shagoon to have my child work on behavior modification. I was beyond impressed with how detailed, thorough and accurate the psychologist was in her evaluation. She really steered us in the right direction and our child is finally getting the help he needs. She has not only helped my child to adapt to new healthy ways but also explained me and my husband to have patience and easy ways to work with children with special needs.
